What Can I Expect When I Apply for a Residential Permit?

• Permitting staff will also try to clarify any issues that arise during the brief completeness review so that your application can be processed as quickly as possible.
• Incomplete applications will not be accepted. A Permit Technician or Plans Examiner will go over your application packet to ensure that it is complete.
• Some applications that are for simple projects can be issued over the counter, while you wait. Others will require review by a Plans Examiner.
• When your plans have been approved (usually within 2-4 weeks), you will be notified.
• Your permit approval is valid for 180 days. You may ask for your permit at any time during the period.
• Payment for permits is required in full at the time the permit is issued.Feel free to ask questions of the Permitting staff at any time. We are happy to help you understand our requirements and process.
