Kick-off-Event
Imagine Olympia was “Kicked-off!”
On November 14, 2009 the City of Olympia hosted a kick-off event for the Comprehensive Plan update at the Olympia Center.
Approximately 200 people visited exhibits and discussed everything from population projections to sea level rise. It was not your typical meeting, as there was entertainment by jazz guitarist Vince Brown and the family band “Grizzle Grazzle Tune Snugglers”.
Folks talked policy with Community Planning and Development Director Keith Stahley, who also passed out cake!
About 100 Home Kits were handed out, and the community was invited to share their visions through a series of post-it notes. Citizens were asked the following three questions;
- Question 1: In 20 years, do you hope Olympia has a small town, city, or some other type of atmosphere? Read comments.
- Question 2: Of your choice from questions 1, describe what that means to you. Read comments.
- Question 3: How can we accommodate 20,000 more people, and achieve the atmosphere you hope for? Read comments.
It was a fantastic beginning for our shared journey to 2011!
